Description

Provides administrative and clerical assistance to department, victims, and families impacted by crime in Fort Bend County.  Participates in planning programs, policies or objectives for work group and department.  This position shall be responsible for maintaining complete records of victim information, referrals, contacts, and all other imperative information.

 

 

Serves as the first point of contact for crime victims and provides information regarding services provided by department.  Acts as liaison for department with Victim Liaison Coordinator in District Attorney’s office and other county or state victim’s services organizations.  Assists with reports involving crime victims for the purpose of notifying crime victims of their rights under Texas Crime Victims Compensation Act.  Field telephone calls and reviews incoming and outgoing correspondence.  Assists victims with application process to determine eligibility and obtain benefits from Texas Crime Victims Act.  Coordinates special activities, events and programs supporting victim’s rights.  Assists with department budget preparation and monitors departmental expenditures to ensure department operates within budget.  Assists in the coordination of services between FBCSO and community outreach programs, inclusive of but not limited to Fort Bend Women’s Shelter and Katy Christian ministries.  Assists in the documentation and submission of reports for State reimbursement of S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations) as performed in connection with FBCSO criminal investigations.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

 



Requirements

High School Diploma/GED; Two years job related experience.  Good computer and typing skills (minimum 35 WPM).  Exceptional verbal, written and organizational skills.  Proven interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.  Ability to prioritize work and complete tasks within tight deadlines.  Working knowledge of databases inclusive of FBCSO case reporting systems (Tiburon/ARS), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook. 

 

SALARY RANGE: Administrative/Clerical Grade 6, $1,159.20 ($14.49/hr.) - $1,396.00 ($17.45/hr.) biweekly based on qualifications

AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION AND PASSING OF THE SKILLS TESTING, THE CANDIDATES WILL THEN PROCEED TO THE FORT BEND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT LOCATED AT: 1840 RICHMOND PARKWAY, RICHMOND, TEXAS 77469.
